Greeting Compassion For Africa Partners,
Wonderful news! What once was unheard of is now a wave of momentum with the Compassion for Africa kids. We now have 13 students at boarding school and they are doing very well. As you may know, boarding school is the premium venue for high school in East Africa, but only a small percentage can attend. We are so proud of them.
The reports from our partners in Africa are that the kids in each of the three group homes are doing well. These once abandoned children are well fed, loved and learning of academic and spiritual truths good for a lifetime.
We have several new children at Cana Rescue Center, which brings the total to 61 in three group homes. We are so pleased to tell you that every one of these kids has a sponsor that covers their basic needs. We praise the Lord for bringing you as partners with us in CFA. Together as a team God is using us to impact 61 lives for the Kingdom of God. We began in August of 2007 with 50 children and God has brought great increase! What a special privilege to serve with you!
It is important that each, Compassion for Africa partner, understands how we are approaching the cost of boarding school for each of the CFA kids. When a student goes to boarding school grades 9-12, the cost for that child increases from the usual $30 per month (360 per year) to approximately $100 per month ($1200 per year)to cover tuition, room and board, traveling expenses and personal items required. Currently we are in the process of raising two additional sponsors for each of the children to cover these expenses. As we are doing so, some people have given toward a general education fund and we have offset boarding school costs by accessing this account. Also some sponsors have actually notified us that they want to cover the entire expense of boarding school for their child. WOW- the generosity and sacrifice of so many has been amazing to see. If you also desire to sponsor your child for boarding, let us know at wilsonfirstfruits@gmail.com. Otherwise, we will attempt to raise the two additional sponsors as mentioned.
Rick and Terry Emerick served as missionaries in Nairobi Kenya many years ago. They longed to return. The Lord opened the door last fall and now they are teaching at Roselyn Academy again in Nairobi and helping us with Compassion For Africa. Their help has been a huge addition toward our efforts on behalf of the kids. Terry Emerick and Elisabeth Muturi (wife of Humphrey our banker in Nairobi) have visited several boarding schools and assessed the quality and cost of each option. They have provided a detailed list of necessities for each child going away to school. They have also provided a loving touch as they surprised the kids with a visit at their boarding schools along with visits to both group homes in Nairobi. Rick has helped with much needed repair projects for the children’s homes. Having Rick and Terri on the ground in Nairobi has become a big upgrade for Compassion for Africa.
In fact Terri has volunteered to hand deliver any email you send to her on behalf of your child at
Judah or Cana Home. Her email address is trmrick@gmail.com. Terri and Rick are planning a visit to the 2 homes in Nairobi the last Sunday of April if you would like to email them a letter for your child before that time. Sponsors who have children at KINS Redeemer Home in Uganda can email your letters to Pastor Joseph at josephjourney@gmail.com
Please contact us at this email address wilsonfirstfruits@gail.com if you have any questions or call Ramona at 5745322194.
God bless you all,
